I have been in AIMST for almost one year and I have decided to withdraw from the course. Why? First of all, the food. Can you imagine eating in Kedah, such a rural place will cost you RM10 per meal for a non-hosteller? That's more expensive than food in Subang Jaya, which I can fill my stomach by just spending roughly 5-7RM. Next, the administration. Every single new intake, you spend the whole fucking morning lining up there to pay your fees and there is only ONE fucking counter for 100+ students. I spent 2 hours there and still wasn't my turn. Anything you complain, will be an insult to them, humiliation to them unless you bring up parents or you start complaining in Facebook which raises public attention. When I did my medical check up, the FUCKING report has arrived in AIMST within 3 FUCKING days, and yet after one month, the office staffs said they haven't receive any medical reports. I called the hospital, verified with them, gave the staffs a proper scolding, and TAADAA, they found the report from the stash. GREAT!!! Besides that, education. I wasn't sure about other faculties, but mine, too little lecturers for too many subjects which causes one single lecturer kept teaching us even though the subject might not be his field of expertise. Imagine that someone knows nothing from the field teaches you and evaluates you according to their understanding, many times they taught the wrong thing, and due to their proud Indian ego, they would not accept the correct answer. I got a scolding once for taking the phrase from a reference book to correct their mistakes. Lab part, yeah, everyone in AIMST would know AIMST is always low on budget. Spoilt equipments, lacking reagents, not enough apparatus, etc. They don't even know how to design a proper lab manual, instead, they took a random manual online without knowing the answers for the questions and teach you with that. Literally, they read slides instead of teaching, which I highly doubt whether they understand properly the topic. One of the 'BEST' lecturer, Nithi, not sure whether anyone of you heard of him, is highly biased and moronic. We have a rule that students should stay in their dorm and lecturers stay in their own. He broke the rule, he allowed a student he teaches to stay in his dorm, not sure if they fucked each other, but yeah, I do not discriminate gay couples, no offense. So, whatever he taught, is from youtube or internet, which is highly subjective and yet he still think that general knowledge should stand the majority of test. Basically what he taught from proper syllabus won't be in the exam much but more of what he think he should ask to torture the students. Some questions he asked, has multiple answers and he did not know about it, but still, he gave only one answer and argument with him will be humiliation to him. He always said he treats people like a college student, yet he limits our freedom which high school teachers do, and he stalks the students, invading their privacy, as he cares so much what's the view of students towards him. During exam period, can you imagine how many questions leaked to that specific student alone? Due to this matter, that student became the so called 'assitant lecturer' in class, any enquiries towards this fucking lecturer, should pass through him, and this makes him able to scold other students as he wants and humiliate other people as he wishes. Some moron lecturer believes in this cheebye Nithi, thought this boy lives with him is a good one, yet, he is one of the most hated asshole in the class. Moreover, I would like to mention the racism happening in AIMST. Other races than Indian will be discriminated by lecturers as lecturers are also Indians. I was very enthusiastic in consulting lecturers at once when I entered the university, but then, all my questions to the lecturer will be ignored but when the Indian students went to consult them, they would welcome them. Great, consulting them will also give me no proper answer as the reference books explains much better than them. I can't believe my answer for lab report is distributed over the class, and in the end, Indian classmates who copied my answer exactly as they are got higher mark than me. The evaluation system is so rotten and biased. Lab reports distributed back came with tick tick tick and still tick, and mark is written at the cover page, and no one tells you which place you lose mark, and they expect us to sit for OSPE exam, great! The biggest mystery would be when the lecturer taught you the wrong thing for the practical, which makes the procedure totally wrong, and so are the calculations and results, I still can't imagine big ticks were put on those classmates lab report and full mark for them even though everyone got the different answer and just one single method is correct. Probably the lecturer realised he needs to distribute back those piles of paper and he still hasn't read any of it despite he gave such a big work load to students while telling them he will be strict in marking. More like giving mark by mood and race without even scan through the sentences. This might be one of the special WORLD CLASS UNIVERSITY without proper lab equipments, educators and scholarship. I scored well, got Dean's list, just got a useless certificate and no prize. I'm not rich, so I went to AIMST for the education, but still, just a fucking cert, not even giving us a single book voucher as reward? Something went wrong with this university.
Lastly, all I have done here was to release my wrath against this so called WORLD CLASS UNIVERSITY as they advertised. I really want to raise attention of public to prevent more kins like me, wasted my time there learning nothing good. It's your decision to choose whether to believe me or not. If you have other choices, never go to AIMST.

2) Expenses. If u feel the food is expensive, why not be a hosteller? Being a non-hosteller and then condemning the price, I don't think so that is a debatable point. Rural or not, economical crisis affects all places. I hope u know our country's economical state, my friend.

Most of our lecturers are wise and experienced so sometimes they try to imply the way they were taught in olden days. Which might not be acceptable by the new generation we are in. But that doesn't mean, they are lesser than us. Somehow, they are elder than us by age. People make mistakes, we can't expect perfection when we ourselves are not right. And somehow, u have proven that aimst provides quality education as you itself have said that, u are a Dean's List student. Well, congrats for ur achievement, btw.

If u have problem with the university, it's systems, it's education, u have proper medium, or way to express your problems. Yet, condemning about one single person, his personal life, that's not what a well-brought up kid would do, my friend. Please do change for ur own betterment.
5) racism. Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. Same goes to racism. Your approach is what you get. I have seen lecturers and students of different races being Much more closer than of the same races. It's not about race, it's about the mentality. Am not saying you are wrong or you are racist, am just saying, try being nicer, open and break their boundaries if u feel the lecturers are racist. Who knows, people change, always.
6) overall. Am just asking you to not embarass our university in front of the eyes of millions, if u have any issues, I guess there are much professional and better ways to express your problems. This is not the way.

Hey there,to the Anonymous friend,I strongly agreed with what you have mentioned here. It shows how well you appreciate AIMST. And you have said it all what I wanted to say. Thanks. To the person who complaint,be thankful for what you have received as you should remember that not everyone get their opportunity to receive a quality education and the ability to pursue further studies. Any problem, try to solve it. Any dissatisfaction, talk it out. Voice it to your batch rep. It helps. And respect the educator. They might not be the whole reason behind for your dean's list achievement but they have been one of the reason. Be thankful for that. You dont have to buy anything or treat them well instead dont talk bad about them. Their personal life has nothing to do with you as a student unless you have been affected too. Anyways, I hope you will find a way to solve this issue.

ReplyDelete1) To start with, i guess you are dissappointed and pissed about our sir because none of the questions that you stole from his pendrive during the first day didnt came out for midsem test. Even after knowing that you are among those who stole, did he ever treat you badly? And this is how you show your gratitude?
2) There is no such thing as the indian lecturers being biase because i as an indian knows that we dont get any previllage of getting leaked questions. You can dream about it to happen. I have seen their utmost ethics and dedication to teach us. And being a small group compared to other bigger number of students is an advantage that we get to ask and discuss better in class. And everytime they ask for questions from the class, only some of us will ask and you will keep your precious mouth taped with your droopy eyes. We never felt that they feel intimidated when we ask questions. I wonder how you phrase your doubts (which will bring me to point no 4&7).
3). What some of the lecturers do to teach is actually extra. They go extra miles to bring current knowledge and try to find videos and clips to make our study easy and fun. There are some who even took the extra effort to create interesting practicals and field trips to interesting places. These are the things that you will cherish when you leave the faculty. You go and ask your seniors, how many of them were able to learn what we have learned in that particular subject? If you are the type who solely depend on memorizing stuff and regurgitate it, i feel sorry that you havent become an all rounder in other skills.
4) Do you know that our faculty test students' practical understanding by testing the PO levels. Opps i am sorry, perhaps you hv been copying your lab reports all the while without really understading the PO2 and PO4. No wonder once you argued in the class as to why you need to answer those questions. You also did not answer those questions in some of your lab reports hence you get lower marks. I guess now you feel inferior for not being able to get dean's list again.
5). There are so many other chinese students who has been doing well and getting dean's list amidst of all the negative accusations you gave. How do you think they excelled? Biaseness?
6) I think the only person who is racist is you and you are also a looser to quit your study because unable to cope with the new style of teaching and learning.
7) If intellectual discussions, encouragement to think out of the box is what you define as not following the syllabus, i am sorry you came to the wrong faculty. Based on the usage of your single most prominent four letter words in this complaint, one thing that i would blame the faculty is their generosity to even put you in dean's list without taking into consideration your communucation and interpersonal skills. So, Yu Huan, stop blaming the faculty and the staff for your inability to comprehand new changes in the teaching system. It is really silly of you to even question the teaching of the well experienced professors and lecturers who treat us like their own children. for ur information I personally know n feel that our faculty(biotechnology) is the most wonderful faculty with wonderful lecturers whoam u will definitely be unable to find in other faculties in aimst itself or wer ever u are going to end up continuing ur studies.. if u r a non-hosteller I suggest u to ask the shop u r going for ur meal, y is it expensive? I dun remember aimst advertising cheap local food as the main attraction.. perhaps u may order ur food from subang for ur daily meal n enjoy the deliciousness.. u nak lagi murah takyah makan lagi best.. 2ndly the lecturer n the boy whoever he is if they r staying 2gether is non of ur business in the 1st place this clearly shows tat ur are juz jealous n over thingking tat he might have gotten leaked papers for exams. his teaching techniques from wat u have condemned, I cn see the joy n happy environment which the lecturer tried hard to create rather than boring slides n sleeping mood activation periods.. I heard about u stealing the pendrive but of all tat if u really attained a dean's list I cn say its purely because the faculty wanted to give it 2 u juz to encourage u rather then demotivating ur small efforts so be grateful for it. U balik tadika 1st learn how to respect people.. ask ur mama n papa to teach u n ask them 2 learn oso cause I tink they forgot to do their duty.. there are so many of ur seniors who are in good positions in good companies ask them wat they had n wat u had n compare the improvisation the faculty or the management did for u.. since u dun noe the value of being a biotech student I seriously think u have made a wrong choice n its a pity.. gud luck for ur future anyways looser...

Do you remember that when you were missing for 2 days from class due to your allergic reaction, the same lecturer asked the class about you and called you to check on your condition. So if anything related to that particular subject, he has to deliver the message. I completed my studies at aimst and I can’t deny that aimst do provide quality education. I didn’t face any problems like you. And I think that’s because I was raised with some good values. If you are having problems with your studies, or the system, fight the situation and find a solution for it. Complaining doesn’t solve anything.
As a student how could you talk bad about a lecturer? Anyways, you have nothing to do with their personal life. Show some respect to your educators. If it’s not because of them you wouldn’t have been a “dean list” student. By the way, there is no racist lecturers in any faculties of aimst. If you feel they are bias, then I honestly feel the fault is on your side (I meant your mentality). Think twice before saying something.
Overall, this is not the way you show your dissatisfaction. Channel it through proper way. Whatever the problem you encounter, you can always try to solve it. Complaining doesn’t help you in any way. Not everyone get a chance to further their studies. Be thankful for what you have and learn to appreciate it. Stop complaining so much. Good luck to you anyways.

I can't say I completely disagree with everything you have written. But that doesn't mean you are not a disgrace to our class. I don't understand why did you have to do this. For such an intelligent and quick learner, you certainly don't think very rationally. I wish you the best of luck. P.S. Nasi Goreng Bujang is only RM3.50 with a bowl of soup. A drink in the kopitiam costs about RM2.50 but you can get one in poko poko for RM1.50. Maybe try that next time? Or just don't complain if you're one that opts for more expensive and luxurious foods.

ReplyDeleteI agree that this place is badly managed. My experience with the lecturers are that they are not bothered about doing the work. The syllabus thought here is not as comprehensive as those taught in other universities.

Even the workers at the canteen do not seem to do their work properly, there is this one young indian waiter who tries to act like a boss and fails to comprehend that its is a service that is paid for with the tuition fee.
I believe in the fact that this is some India Ego problem. When asking about crucial information from the lecturers they believe that they have the right to not entertain you if it fits their fancy.
Multiple times when approached, the lecturers play the blame game and pass on the responsibility to someone else.
I have had personal belongings stolen and worse.
Cant denied, I also had the bad impression of aimst university. At first when I came and registered and done everything, they treated me well la. But then when the time passes, you can see how they changed totally in behaviour? I went to ask about intake stuff at admin building for several times, but at the last meeting, I was the one get the blame for asking them SAME QUESTION over and over. The prob is that, if they can just answer what I asked for, why the hell I asked it again and again right? If they cant answer it, obviously there is something going on that they dun want people to know. Funny, they tried to play victim and try to push the responsibility on me.

All that needs attention is how foreign people are given no choice. No privacy and still expected to blend in with locals even though some ought to give forced smiles. Or just ignore you while you’re around trying to ask something a lot. Still have good people but something needs to be done.
